A new model of care will begin at the urgent care of UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Beginning October 1, UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Urgent Care will commit more time and focus on quality and time-saving processes designed to enhance the urgent care experience.
The difference is in the handoffs, or lack thereof, as concierge service will feature a specially trained clinical care attendant. The medical professional will greet each individual as he or she enters the clinic and remain with that same patient throughout the visit. Clinical care attendants will be trained to do everything from registration, vitals, symptom assessment and laboratory or x-ray services while working with a nurse practitioner, physician assistant or physician for diagnosis and treatment. This bypasses the time spent transferring care from one professional to another.
The new model at UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown Urgent Care will also offer personal and thoughtful amenities like complimentary water, snacks, warm blankets, hot tea and WiFi. Individuals can also check wait times to pick a time that best works for you. Online check in to shorten the amount of time spent at the clinic will be coming soon.
While providing faster care in a new convenient location, UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown remains dedicated to offering high quality healthcare to the community.
“People are busy – work, school, kids’ activities and everything else that fills our day make it challenging to find time for healthcare,” said Dustin Wright, UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Vice President of Operations. “We want to offer another option to meet our patients’ needs and help them get the care they need to feel better and get back to their lives.”
The Urgent Care will continue treating non-emergency conditions such as cold, flu, sore throat and minor sports injuries. The clinic will be open 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. every day of the year, including holidays, at 55 Central Iowa Dive. Learn more at marshalltown.unitypoint.org.
