Three Midwives Join UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Women’s Care

Three midwives from the Women’s Care Group will be joining UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown’s Women’s Care and will begin caring for patients on Wednesday, October 3.  Certified midwives, Christine Fishel, Autumn Schmoker and Melissa Koch will provide obstetrics services at the Women’s Care Clinic located at 407 E. Main Street in Marshalltown and within the hospital.

“UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Women’s Care officially opens our clinic to patients on Wednesday, October 3. On Wednesday, our care team will expand to include these three, experienced veterans. There will be no interruption in services within the hospital during this time.” said Dustin Wright, Vice President of Operations, UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. 

Christine Fishel completed her education at Frontier Nursing University in Midwifery and Family Nursing. Christine is an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP) through the state of Iowa, is a certified nurse midwife and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives.

Autumn Schmoker is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a Master’s of Science and Nursing degree from the Nurse Midwife Program. Autumn is also a registered nurse in the state of Iowa, certified in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing and Midwifery and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Melissa Koch completed her education from the University of Cincinnati with a Master’s of Science and Nursing degree from the Nurse Midwife Program. Melissa is an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP) through the state of Iowa, is a certified nurse midwife and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses.

UnityPoint Health – Women’s Care is asking patients who had appointments scheduled with the previous Women’s Care Group to call (641) 854-6006 to confirm appointments that were previously scheduled or to schedule a new appointment. For continuity of care, it would be helpful if patients could bring their medical records from The Women’s Care Group to their first appointment.
