When did you know you wanted to be a provider?
I have always known I wanted to help others since I was a child. The need to help others brought me into the healthcare profession, and my life long enjoyment for learning has brought me to where I am today.
What makes your day at work the most fulfilling?
I enjoy wound care because you are able to visually see the progress made with healing. Also working with such a great team of co-workers make the day go smoother and more enjoyable.
What’s a perfect day off work look like?
A perfect day off work would include spending time with my family. My children seem to be growing up too quickly.
What do you think your team excels at most and why?
My team, which I am honored to work with, excels at Team Work. They are always helping each other out, and going above and beyond meeting our clinic and patient’s needs.
Can you speak of your department?
I work in the Wound Healing Center at the Medical Park at UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown. We specialize in treating acute and chronic wounds/ulcers created by various etiologies. We also use hyperbaric oxygen therapy as an adjunct treatment to assist in healing wounds/conditions that meet the criteria.
What are your words to live by?
I believe it is important to be truthful and kind. I enjoy inspirational quotes and my new favorite one is, “Watch your actions for they become your habits. Watch your habits for they become your character.”
Do you have a role model?
My grandmother was a great role model for me growing up. She embodied a courteous, courageous, and compassionate person. She is the type of person who could do it all from helping to start and run a business, raised 5 children, and spent individualized time with each of her grandchildren. Family was always first.
