MARSHALLTOWN – Dr. Russell Adams, MD, has been named Chief Medical Officer of UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown effective immediately.
In this role, Dr. Adams will be responsible for patient safety and overseeing programs and strategies designed to promote and improve quality, while reducing the cost of care delivered.

His oversight will support effective and productive relationships and help assure that the hospital’s strategic planning, technology investments and medical policies work to support quality, patient care.”
Dr. Adams, a graduate of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, began his career as an internal medicine physician where he worked in both an inpatient and outpatient capacity. In 2003, Dr. Adams was involved with the creation of Allen Hospital’s hospitalist program and continued to provide inpatient and outpatient services. In 2011, Dr. Adams became a full-time hospitalist and Medical Director of the Hospitalist Service at Allen Hospital. In 2014, Dr. Adams was promoted to Medical Director of Operations.
