Q. Where are you from originally?
A. This is difficult to answer, as I have not lived in any one place for a long time. I always tell people my elementary schools days were spent in North Liberty, Iowa. My middle school and high school days were spent in Keokuk, where I graduated from Keokuk Senior High. I went to college in Mt. Pleasant and returned to Keokuk after graduation. In 2006, I returned to North Liberty and in 2018 moved to Solon.
A. Why did you become a provider?
A. I had been an ER nurse for 13 years and a paramedic for 18 years (and still am) and have always felt the need to challenge myself and to move on to the next level of education and experiences. I was ready for the next challenge in my life and felt like now was the right time.
Q. What qualities best describe the care you provide to patients?
A. I try to be empathetic and sympathetic when applicable. I try to listen and be compassionate. Coming from a nursing background, I am still a patient advocate when I am working with other providers, whether it is dealing with a transfer, an admission, or even discharged. I want to make sure that they are going to get the best care possible.
Q. Are there any fun facts you would like the community to know about you?
A. I have my two fur babies Luca (German Shepherd) and Sophie (Lab-mix). Every year I work with CARE Ambulance for RAGBRAI and provide medical services for the bike riders across Iowa.
Q. What are your hobbies and personal interests?
A. I enjoy doing triathlons, playing tennis, racquetball and golf, as well as camping and traveling. I really enjoy many things that allow me to spend time with friends and family!
