Frequently Asked Questions

What is online check in?

UnityPoint Clinic offers online self-scheduling to give you an estimated time of when you can be seen. This can result in less time spent in the waiting room because you can arrive at the clinic closer to the time when a provider is available to see you.

What are the benefits of checking in online?

Checking in online allows patients to schedule a time that works best for them. This means you can spend your time going about your day or relax in the comfort of your home or office instead of sitting in the waiting room. Additionally, most patients will spend less time in the waiting room after arriving at the clinic.

When should I use online check in?

Online check in is meant for any type of acute illness that you would typically go to urgent care for. If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911. It is also not meant chronic issues or preventative care that you should be managed by your primary care provider.

What happens after I check in online?

You will get a text message at least 15 minutes (or longer if you choose) prior to when you should arrive at the clinic. You will be asked to confirm your reservation when you arrive.

Do I need to check in when I arrive?

Yes. This lets our staff know that you are at the clinic and ready to be seen. Please have insurance information with you.

Is it a scheduled appointment?

No. Checking in online is meant to give an estimated time for when you can be seen and reduce the time spent in the waiting room at the clinic.

Will I be seen at the time I sign up for?

The specific time you sign up for is only an estimate. Many factors affect when you will actually be seen including the number of patients in the clinic and the varying degrees of illnesses.

Do I have to check in online?

No. Walk-in patients are still welcome.
