UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Area Paramedic Service (MAPS) is a premier emergency medical service that provides paramedic care to Marshalltown and the surrounding communities. A highly trained team of professionals routinely handle 911 emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The profession of “para” medicine has expanded beyond the ambulance as UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown’s EMT’s and paramedics work side-by-side with the physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Med/Surg/Peds areas. Within these units they are able to utilize their critical skills which assist in keeping their expertise and knowledge at optimum levels in order to provide the best prehospital care possible.
UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown maintains a modern fleet of four ambulances that are furnished with state of the art equipment to enhance the capabilities of our paramedics and EMT’s, such as 12 lead cardiac monitors with transmitting capabilities so that physicians at the hospital can also see a patient’s cardiac rhythm and CPAP capabilities to assist patients who are experiencing respiratory distress.

UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Area Paramedic Service is an authorized critical care paramedic service by the Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services and recently received the coveted Mission: Lifeline Silver Plus award for providing outstanding prehospital cardiac and STEMI care.
